Hello and Happy Monday!  How was your weekend?  Mine was nice; I got my hair cut and went for a run around my new neighborhood.  As promised, I have some pictures of my new house to share this morning!  So, come on in:

Livingroom1

Here’s my little living room.  Depending on how long you’ve been reading my blog, you might remember most of this furniture from my college apartment. Dang, I was living the high life in college and I didn’t even know.

This is the room where I’ll be hosting many movie nights and Super Bowl parties.  Okay, obviously that is a joke because my tv (1) is about 6 inches wide and (2) I don’t have cable.  I have Netflix so I can watch most stuff online and whatever I can’t watch online I can make Jonathan let me watch at his house. :) Trying to save money where I can, ya know?  At least that TV has a VHS player, right?

Not too much notable in the kitchen.  I was happy to pull out my antique storage tins and also put my butcher block to use.  I found it at the Salvation Army a few years ago for $30 and haven’t had a chance to use it until now!

Check out my mini oven.  My mom said I always wanted an Easy Bake Oven and now I finally have one!  This bad boy bakes cookies in 4 minutes flat.  I know this because I made cookies for the AT&T guy when he finally came to set up my internet (yes I’m serious).

The bathroom also isn’t too interesting except for the fact that there is a window in my shower.  I’m not talking a little window at the top, I’m talking a huge window that starts at my waist.  Not fogged out glass or anything like that, just 100% see through.  I’m not sure how people normally go about fixing this problem but Jonathan helped me rig up a second shower curtain in between the window panes.  Not perfect but it will have to do!

Here’s my little office.  It is technically a 2nd bedroom – they didn’t have any 1 bedroom units available.  I’ve got all of my extra stuff in there and am calling it my office for now.  It would be nice to stick a twin size bed in there eventually for when company comes or if I made a friend who wanted to be roommates I wouldn’t hate splitting the rent. :)

Below:  My favorite lamp -made from the bottle of wine from my 21st birthday.

I love this little giraffe that the family I babysat for in Raleigh brought back for me when they went to Africa last year.  The guy in the frame with me is okay too.

Finally I have all of my craft stuff organized!  It isn’t the prettiest presentation but it will do.

I know you think that elephant up there is random but I have big plans for him, just wait and see.

Okay, now my room!  If you were reading my blog when I was still in college (gosh I can’t believe that was almost 2 years ago), you’ll recognize the set up.  Same headboard and furniture, I just got a new bedspread (thanks Mom) and switched the teal globe lights out for white globe lights.  I really like how it looks all lit up, as you saw in this post.

I know you can’t see them very well, but the print on the left is from Lara Casey and the frame on the right is Nate Berkus for Target.  Love both of them but I feel like I still need a few more things to dress up my side tables.  Ideas?

Still using this old shutter as an earring holder – one of my favorite crafty creations.  I would link to the original post where I made this but I know it is part of the group that needs to be fixed from when my old blog got deleted, so I won’t bother with that today.

You guys all need to get one of these Rewined Candles!  They are made from recycled wine bottles and smell soooo good.  They come in flavors like Cabernet, Pino Grigio, Riesling, etc…  The one above is Sangria and I love it.  They are $20, which I know seems crazy steep for a candle but I think they are worth it.

Also, if you saw the first picture of my bedroom and thought to yourself, does that 24 year old girl seriously have 4 stuffed animals and a blanket on her bed?  The answer is yes.  I regret nothing.

By the way – I finally got around to creating a Facebook page for my blog this weekend!  Something I probably should have done a long time ago, but better late than never, right?  I won’t be posting links to new posts on my personal page anymore so if you’d like to stay in touch / get updates and links to new posts, feel free to “Like” it here.  For some reason I can’t get the Facebook button at the top of the blog to work, but all the others seem to be in working order (Instagram, Pinterest, Twitter)… No idea what that little heart button is for?

So tell me:

What is your favorite room in your house?

Probably my bedroom!

Anyone out there still sleeping with stuffed animals? If not, when did you ditch them?

Yep!  I’ve had the little red and white dog since my first Christmas, Cow since I was in high school (mom bought him to replace a stuffed animal from a HS boyfriend, ha!), Jonathan brought me the gorilla from Las Vegas, Laney, Kara and I all have matching WOLVES, and the blanket was my mom’s when she was little.  I only sleep with the dog and cow, everyone else gets kicked to the floor.  I suppose I’ll stop sleeping with them if I get married because somehow I don’t think a man would allow all of those things on his bed. ;)

Quick! Go back up to that picture of the wine bottle with lights and tell about your awesome brother who made it for you!

Your place sure looks cozy! Thanks for not showing the outside!!!

Laura, I still sleep with my stuffed animal too! It’s a tad odd though, lime green stuffed fish with a polka dot bowtie! His name is Gilbert! You’re not alone friend!

I love all the crafty touches going on in your apartment! My college apartment is still very sadly undecorated, I think it’s knowing that I’ll be graduating in 4 months, packing everything up and moving it again.
I still sleep with the teddy bear my boyfriend gave me for Christmas 6 years ago, he’s looking a little worse for wear but I refuse to give him up!

I love your new place! Look at you being all grown up and fancy.

Question: WHERE did you get your plate art in your living room? I’m in love with the colors!

Next question: When you did your wine bottle lamp (planning on doing a few of my own for my living room), where did you get your lights? I’m having a hard time finding ones without outlets on both ends.

    Love xoxo

I am pretty sure the art on the wall is from either TJ Maxx or Homegoods – great place for inexpensive decorations! Let me double check on the lights… my brother made the bottle for me!

I slept with a teddy bear, Brown (because he was brown), from birth until I got married! But it wasn’t because my husband thought it was weird or anything, just that I didn’t want my dog attacking it during the middle of the night. I’m not sure I could survive something so horrible!

Haha! They set up the internet 4 days late and cancelled my appointment 3 times. I was so glad that he finally came, I could have kissed him! ;)
